Our journey begins with a deep respect for nature, using materials that are sustainably sourced and environmentally friendly. While materials alone don’t make a product sustainable, they do account for a significant portion of its environmental impact—water usage and pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and textile waste are all influenced by the choice of textiles. We prioritize using the highest quality, natural, and renewable fibers available to ensure the longevity of our products, while also considering their environmental and social impact during the sourcing process.

Bringing new products into the world presents challenges to sustainability, but at PurBelif, we are committed to acting responsibly. We meticulously measure our environmental impact to understand how best to mitigate it. We produce with care, focusing on both the methods and materials we use. Transparency is key to our approach, as we believe it is essential for making the crucial changes needed in our industry. By being open about our processes and continually striving for improvement, we aim to lead by example in creating a more sustainable future.
We value honest craftsmanship, with experienced Chinese artisans weaving and sewing our products. During the weaving process, our fabrics undergo multiple strict quality inspections, with defects meticulously repaired by hand, minimizing resource waste at every step. We design and create durable products built to last. Most of our products are proudly made at our workshop in China, and for a few select product lines, we collaborate with local manufacturers in Portugal, combining expertise and craftsmanship from both regions.
We are passionate and invested in everything we make. For a long time, the value of Chinese manufacturing has been underestimated, which is unsustainable. We firmly believe that how a product is made is just as important as its aesthetics and functionality. We spare no effort in seeking out and establishing future supply chain partnerships at every stage.

Shipping Boxes
The boxes we send our product out in are entirely recyclable. This includes the paper the product is wrapped in, the sticker sealing the paper and the water adhesive paper tape that seals the box. The only item not recyclable is the shipping label which is currently a requirement of our third party logistics company and something we are working to resolve as a brand. We currently advise you to remove this sticker before reusing or recycling the rest of your packaging.
Circularity
Circularity involves designing products that last and that can be reused, repaired or remanufactured over time. We are continually improving our practices to ensure the longest life possible for our products, prioritising waste reduction, minimising our environmental footprint and more generally, supporting the transition towards a circular economy.

Considered Production
We work closely with our suppliers to carefully forecast our needs and make only enough product to meet these needs. We order seasonal items in very limited quantities to ensure we are not overproducing. All of our products are designed to be timeless in hope that the user will love our pieces for years to come and not tire of, or disregard them.
The very small quantity of disused or faulty stock that is sometimes unavoidable is kept for our warehouse sale or donated to our charity partners. We do not send product to landfill.

Alterations for Defective Products
In the case of small defects with fabric, or sewing that is able to be repaired, our policy is to always offer alterations first, before suggesting replacement. For all other samples or imperfect products, we offer these at a reduced rate at our annual warehouse sale and do not send product to landfill.
Reuse of PurBelif Linen Bags
Our PurBelif linen bags are produced using dead stock and are a reusable alternative to single use plastic. We encourage you to reuse these at home - either storing your products when not in use to protect them, or in other uses such as produce bags. However, if you do not have any need for your linen bags and would like to return them for reuse by PurBelif you are more than welcome to return them to us in store, either by post or in person.

At PurBelif, we are deeply committed to minimizing our impact on the environment. To further support the evironment, we have instituted the PurBelif Zero Waste Program initiative. The goal is to minimize fabric waste to less than 2% across all product lines. The products are made all or entirely from the unusable sections of linen fabric from PurBelif products such as linen sheets, towels, duvet covers and pillowcases.
